About the Shelter

Each year the Jessamine Humane Society houses and cares for over 3500 animals. It works in conjunction with Jessamine County's Animal Control service, providing shelter for strays and victims of neglect and cruelty. Here they can be cared for and placed up for adoption.

The small staff works tirelessly to care for the seemingly endless number of animals that arrive daily. Just as one animal leaves for it's new home, another one shows up to take it's place. The kennel never stays empty for more than a few hours.

Scheduling spay and neuter surgeries, treating and feeding animals, cleaning cages, it's all part of the daily routine for the staff. Their reward comes when an animal leaves to join it's new family.
